This paper was produced by Michael York (Caveman '94) as an independent research project in Spring 1998. Mike made this paper of grass clippings, using 4 tbsp lye per gallon of water and cooking his pulp for 3 hours. After washing out the lye and pounding with a wooden mallet, he placed his pulp in an ice chest full of water and used a deckle to lift sheets of paper from the pulp. The paper was transferred to denim cloth and when it was dry enough to handle, it was dried with a laundry iron.
This unbleached paper is dark green in color. A one inch square of this paper was scanned and used as the background image for this page.
